Construction Project Management

Construction Project Management

Often, contractors are asked to “stay in their lanes” and just do their work.  This is a missed opportunity to create synergy and help the Customer realize savings through thoughtful and cost-effective practices.

ComLink is currently involved in a substantial construction project requiring large amounts of low-voltage connectivity.  During a construction meeting at the site, ComLink personnel began asking questions of the General contractor, Electrical contractor, Security contractor and AV provider.  While discussing the needs of the Customer and their new building, this group of contractors came to realize the low voltage contractor can be the common bond for many solutions.  As a result of this and subsequent exchanges, the group of contractors agreed to have one contractor install the entire low voltage network.

In the process of working with each contractor, ComLink can specify the correct network needed for the entire project.  This includes callouts specific to IT network, AV technologies and Security systems.  It can also include Building Management systems.  This common network platform design ensures all needs are met without waste and duplication.  It also affords the opportunity to simplify cable supports and paths to create a clean and efficiently built environment.  Not only will this installation look great on Day 1, it will also be easier to service and supplement with future needs as the Customer dictates.

Early involvement in the specification and design of the low voltage solutions helps the ComLink team add value for the Customer by saving time, materials, and labor.  It also enables the creation of comprehensive as-built documentation that is key to future serviceability and network Moves/Adds/Changes.

This is just one example of the value added through thoughtful, integrated network design and implementation.
